Babble, the UK’s leading Cloud Solution Provider, is today announcing that the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation will be its Gold Charity Partner for the Babble Ride Across Britain 2024.

As a fundraising challenge, Ride Across Britain raises significant funds for charity, with the 2022 ride generating over £1.1 million for a number of incredible causes.

With one year to go until the 2024 cross-country cycling event, Babble is announcing its commitment to supporting the motor neuron disease (MND) charity and improving last year’s fundraising total. This follows Babble’s sponsorship and participation in the Doddie Cup 555 ride earlier this year where Babble fundraised for the Foundation in a 555-mile cycling challenge from Cardiff’s Principality Stadium to Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh over the course of three days.

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation was set up by the late Scottish international rugby player, Doddie Weir, after he announced he had been diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND) in 2017. The charity is committed to funding research for effective treatments for MND to achieve their goal of a World Free of MND.

The Foundation will join other charities such The Prince’s Trust, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan in being a Gold Charity Partner for the Babble Ride Across Britain.

Babble Ride Across Britain is an iconic nine-day cycling event in September 2024, taking 800 cyclists on a 980-mile adventure from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland, showcasing the best of Britain’s scenery.

Matt Parker, Babble CEO, said, “We are honoured to join forces with the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation for Babble Ride Across Britain. We’re huge supporters of the charity, so as the Title Partner for Ride Across Britain, it felt like a natural fit. Together, we hope to use Babble Ride Across Britain to raise significant funds to further the Foundation’s aims.

“For the past ten years I’ve been involved in Ride Across Britain and every year I look forward to using this platform as an opportunity to build on Babble’s commitment to charity fundraising – as well as enjoying nine days with a great group of riders. As a company, we want to be a force for good and create a positive impact on society. We’re gearing up for next year’s event and looking forward to this year’s virtual Ride Across Britain, where members of our team from all over the UK and thousands of others will have the opportunity to come together in our goal to make a difference.”

Jill Douglas, CEO of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, said: “Our vision is a World Free of MND and partnerships with passionate organisations like Babble are vital to enabling us to invest in the most promising research to achieve this goal.

“We are thrilled to be chosen as a Gold Charity Partner and to be working with Babble and the Ride Across Britain team. The support and awareness we hope this partnership will raise is significant, and we’re already looking forward to the event. Many of our supporters are keen cyclists and we’ll certainly be encouraging them to get involved.”
